Music has been an important part of worship at MPLC from the beginning. Children’s and Youth Choirs, Senior Choir, Bell Choirs, fine organists and other instrumentalists, musicians and singers have blessed our worship since the earliest days. Our sanctuary has been modified along the way to make the most of their musical gifts, and to foster a worship space that was both beautiful and functional.

It took ten years of phase additions to complete the first pipe organ in the sanctuary before it was officially dedicated in 1985. In 2005, the choir loft section of the sanctuary was renovated to install tiered rows and chairs, with a cleared, flat area for bell choir tables.

In 2006, the congregation undertook the construction and installation of a new pipe organ, requiring extensive renovations to the worship space. MPLC’s pipe organ was built by John-Paul Buzard Organ Builders of Champaign, IL, and was dedicated in 2007. The 40-rank instrument was carefully designed to fit our unique architectural and acoustic environment. From its quietest gentle flutes, to its grandest trumpet, the organ plays a wonderful role in leading our congregation in worship.
