Sharing the stories of how MPLC folks practice their faith
By Lynne Besaw
I would like to share my experience with the Pleasant Visitors ministry, which provides monthly visits and communion to homebound members of MPLC.
I have been a Pleasant Visitor for about four years, visiting a friend I have known for many years. I began visiting her when she could no longer attend church. This ministry is about providing a listening ear, sharing church news, and sharing communion. My friend has been a member of MPLC for many years and deeply misses being part of the church community. While pastors visit several times a year, Pleasant Visitors provide a consistent, additional connection throughout the year. During our time together, I help her feel connected to our church community by sharing updates on church activities and mutual friends.
A significant part of our time together involves active listening and being present for her. As she shares memories of her life, family, and faith, I find that I learn so much from her. Being a Pleasant Visitor is a meaningful way for me to provide companionship, allowing us both to grow in our faith and connection.

In addition to serving as a Pleasant Visitor, Lynne is also one of our communion bread-bakers and has served in many other ways through the congregation over the years. If you’d like to know more about becoming a Pleasant Visitor, please talk to Lynne or Pastor Nathan Pratt!
